Dr. Olivier Holland
Olivier is a bassist, composer/arranger and educator based in Auckland, New Zealand. His long career has seen him perform and record with top artists from all over the world. Olivier is in the process of writing his very own double bass teaching method book, due for release in 2022. He has completed a (bass-) doctorate in 2016 and currently teaches at the University of Auckland Jazz Department in a variety of subjects.
Besides playing it, Oli also has a passion for teaching and researching the bass, then sharing his findings with students and fellow bassists. In this instance he has published an article in “Bass World” in 2016, as well as lectured/performed at the 2017 ISB Bass Convention in Ithaca, New York. Further bass related insights and secrets were aired in a feature interview in the German magazine “Der Bassprofessor” in 2019.
